Eugene R. Anderson was the founding member of Anderson Kill. "Business Insurance" had designated Mr. Anderson as one of the people who have had the greatest impact on property and casualty insurance over the past 20 years. Mr. Anderson was often described as the 'dean of policyholders' attorneys." The American Lawyer had described Mr. Anderson as "a brand name specialist for policyholders." Even a leading insurance association had touted Mr. Anderson as being "perhaps the most celebrated counsel representing insureds." Since 2007, Mr. Anderson had been named in Best Lawyers for insurance law.

Mr. Anderson was a former Assistant United States Attorney and a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, Harvard Law School, and New York University School of Law.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the New York City Mayor's Task Force on Automobile Insurance, Chairperson of the
amicus committee of United Policyholders, Director of Citizens Against Unfair Insurance Practices, and was a Director of the Police Athletic League. Mr. Anderson had written numerous articles about insurance coverage issues. His writings have appeared in law reviews and trade publications, and Mr. Anderson was a frequent lecturer on insurance matters. Mr. Anderson was also the co-author of a two-volume treatise entitled Insurance Coverage Litigation.
Mr. Anderson was rated "AV," the top rating, by his peers as listed in Martindale Hubbell.
