Vivian Costandy Michael is an attorney in Anderson Kill's New York office. Ms. Michael's practice concentrates in insurance recovery, exclusively on behalf of policyholders, and in corporate and commercial litigation.
Ms. Michael has represented major corporations and government entities pursuing coverage for long-tail asbestos and environmental liabilities. Ms. Michael also represents corporations and financial institutions seeking coverage under professional liability policies.Ms. Michael is co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. She is also a pro bono mediator in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where she represents employees in court-ordered mediations of their employment discrimination lawsuits.
Prior to joining Anderson Kill, Ms. Michael was a law clerk at a leading employment law firm, where she assisted with the litigation of wage-and-hour, discrimination, and sexual harassment cases brought by employees in state and federal court. She also has worked as a legal intern at the American Civil Liberties Union, Women's Rights Project and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Ronald L. Ellis of the Southern District of New York.
While attending City University of New York School of Law, Ms. Michael was a Student Attorney with the Human Rights & Gender Justice Clinic, a staff member of the City University of New York Law Review, and a recipient of the Haywood Burns Graduate Fellowship.
