New York Law Journal Names Anderson Kill's Insurance Recovery Group "Litigation Department of the Year" in Insurance

06/21/2019

New York, NY (June 21, 2019) -- Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that the firm's Insurance Recovery Group has been named New York Law Journal's Litigation Department of the Year in Insurance.

In Anderson Kill's 50th anniversary year, the firm's Insurance Recovery Group has also been named a Practice Group of the Year in Insurance by Law360 and Legal Team of the Year (for the second consecutive year) by Business Insurance.

The awards recognize a series of consequential victories in trial and appellate courts in insurance coverage disputes. These wins have upheld vital allocation principles for policyholders seeking coverage for long-tail environmental and asbestos claims; clarified the limits of the pollution exclusion; rejected an insurance company's attempt to claw back defense costs already advanced; and found coverage under a crime policy for losses stemming from a phishing scam.

Robert M. Horkovich, Anderson Kill's managing shareholder, commented, "To be considered for the New York Law Journal's litigation award, a practice group has to be able to document major recent successes in court -- as was also the case for the recognition our insurance recovery group has won this year from Law360 and Business Insurance. I am so proud of our entire team for continuing to push the envelope successfully in insurance coverage litigation."

Anderson Kill has been representing policyholders only in insurance coverage since the early 1980s, when firm founder Eugene R. Anderson won a series landmark decisions finding coverage for long-tail claims, validating foundational coverage theories and litigation techniques.  In the ensuring decades, the firm's insurance recovery attorneys have recovered billions of dollars in judgments and settlements from insurance companies.  Clients include some of the nation's largest corporate policyholders as well as utilities, municipalities, state governments, charities, major religious and not-for-profit organizations, small companies and individuals.

The litigation award winners will be recognized in the New York Law Journal’s upcoming Professional Excellence magazine and honored Oct. 23rd at the New York Legal Awards at Tribeca 360 in New York City.
