Business Insurance Names Carrie DiCanio a 2018 Breakout Award Winner

06/15/2018

Business Insurance magazine has named Anderson Kill shareholder Carrie DiCanio a winner of its 2018 Breakout Award, which recognizes the next generation of insurance industry leaders.

Ms. DiCanio was recognized for her work securing judgments and settlements for corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage disputes involving environmental, asbestos, product liability, property and D&O claims. She has also been a leader in establishing an Anderson Kill practice in Transaction Liability Insurance, as well as in developing the firm's Women's Network, and has been a prolific author and frequent speaker on insurance coverage issues.

In an article profiling Ms. DiCanio as a Breakout Award winner, Business Insurance asked what she sees as emerging risks in her specialty. Focusing on directors' and officers' liability, Ms. DiCanio responded:

One is corporate fiduciary liability for workplace discrimination and harassment, primarily in the wake of the MeToo movement and the revelations about workplace discrimination that have come to light. The other main area of risk I see pertains to securities litigation over data breaches.

William G. Passannante, co-chair of Anderson Kill's Insurance Recovery Group, commented, "Business Insurance was on point with this award. Carrie is an able attorney in complex litigation and has been an integral member of many complex litigation teams. Carrie has taken a leading role in developing our practice in Transaction Liability Insurance, a type of insurance that's become increasingly important to private equity investors and other parties in mergers and acquisitions."
