Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that Raymond A. Mascia Jr., a shareholder in the firm’s New York office, has been named by Law360 as a Rising Star in the Insurance category for 2020. Law360 selected this year’s list of Rising Stars from more than 1,300 applicants. The list represents those “attorneys under 40 whose legal accomplishments transcend their age.… Winners were selected based on their career accomplishments in their respective disciplines.”
In selecting Ray, Law360 considered a number of his recent victories in major insurance coverage cases. These successes include Ray’s representation of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in coverage litigation in New York State Court, where Ray played a key role in obtaining several trial court and appellate decisions in favor of coverage for long-tail asbestos claims arising out of the construction of the original World Trade Center. Ray was also instrumental in obtaining a favorable Oregon federal district court decision for Siltronic Corp. that limited the application of the pollution exclusion in favor of coverage for environmental cleanup related to the Portland Harbor Superfund Site.
A member of Anderson Kill’s Insurance Recovery Group, Ray represents corporate and governmental policyholders in all types of insurance recovery matters, including insurance claims involving D&O coverage, professional liability coverage, general liability coverage, environmental and asbestos claims, commercial crime insurance, and first-party property and business interruption losses arising from natural disasters and other perils. Ray joined Anderson Kill upon his graduation from St. John’s University School of Law in 2009. He took a hiatus in 2013 to serve a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Joanna Seybert of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, returning to Anderson Kill upon completion.
A Law360 profile chronicling highlights of Ray’s career will appear in coming weeks.
