Anderson Kill is pleased to announce that Dennis J. Artese and Carrie Maylor DiCanio, shareholders of long standing in the firm’s Insurance Recovery Group, have been named equity shareholders, effective March 13, 2023.

Dennis J. Artese, who joined Anderson Kill in 2002, is a shareholder in Anderson Kill’s New York office,  chair of the firm’s Climate Change and Disaster Recovery Group, and co-chair of the firm's Construction Industry Group.  His national practice concentrates on all types of insurance recovery litigation, with an emphasis on securing insurance coverage for property and business interruption losses stemming from natural disasters and other perils as well as for construction-related first-party property losses and third-party liability claims.  Dennis has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars of insurance proceeds on behalf of policyholders in connection with a variety of property, builder's risk, commercial general liability, umbrella and excess liability, D&O, E&O, crime, and political risk insurance claims.  He also has extensive experience litigating insurance broker malpractice cases and other general commercial litigation disputes, including construction-related disputes.

Dennis is the General and Climate Change Insurance Editor of the Journal on Emerging Issues in Litigation.  He has been recognized by Super Lawyers for Insurance Coverage since 2012.  He also has been recognized by Legal 500 for Insurance Advice to Policyholders and singled out there as a "superb lawyer and subject-matter expert."

Carrie Maylor DiCanio is the managing shareholder of Anderson Kill’s Denver office and a shareholder in the firm’s New York office.  Specializing in claims involving complex financial matters, Carrie has been instrumental in securing judgments and settlements for corporate policyholders in litigation and arbitration under a broad range of insurance policy types, including representations and warranties and D&O insurance policies, among others. Carrie serves clients in the financial, hospitality, energy, and construction industries. Carrie also advises clients extensively on pre-litigation insurance matters.

Carrie is a member of the firm's insurance recovery, commercial litigation and COVID Task groups, and co-chair of Anderson Kill's Women's Network.  She has been recognized as a Law360 Rising Star in Insurance, a Business Insurance Break Out Award winner, and a member of Benchmark Litigation's 40 & Under Hot List. Carrie joined Anderson Kill full-time in 2008, after a summer internship at the firm in 2007.

Robert M. Horkovich, Anderson Kill’s managing shareholder, stated, “Dennis and Carrie have proved themselves over many years to be highly effective litigators and problem solvers for clients seeking to maximize insurance recoveries and fight unwarranted coverage denials.  Both have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation and negotiation short of formal dispute. We are pleased to welcome them into the ranks of our equity shareholders.”
