Anderson Kill Adds 3 Veteran Attys To Corporate Group

Anderson Kill PC has hired a trio of longtime — and for two of them lifelong — colleagues for its corporate practice, the firm announced this month.

The father and son team of Herbert Deutsch and Jeremy E. Deutsch will join the firm’s New York City office, with Jeremy as a shareholder and chairman of the firm’s corporate group, the firm said on Jan. 17. Joining them from Norris McLaughlin & Marcus PA is fellow corporate litigator Christian Cangiano, a co-worker of the two for two decades

“It’s great to be able to work with people who you respect and who you have known for a long time,” Jeremy Deutsch said during a phone interview on Wednesday. “I think that’s kind of a luxury in the environment we have today.”

The three started at the elder Deutsch’s firm before that firm merged with Norris McLaughlin & Marcus PA, where they continued to work together in the firm's corporate practice, Jeremy said.

“Jeremy, Herb and Chris understand the relationship between corporate work and litigation and know how to prevent litigation as well as prosecute it,” Robert M. Horkovich, managing shareholder of Anderson Kill, said. “They will help us build on and extend our risk management continuum, from corporate and transactional work through recovery.”

In the release, Jeremy Deutsch said that his view of corporate work as a form of centralized risk control is what attracted him to Anderson Kill.

“I am excited about helping to build a corporate group that fosters productive relationships and helps to forestalls liability,” Jeremy Deutsch said. “That meshes well with Anderson Kill's outstanding ability to maximize recovery when liability and loss do occur.”

The release said that all three men have extensive experience in corporate and commercial litigation. According to the firm, Jeremy Deutsch has more than 20 years' experience in business law, including all forms of transactional and day-to-day legal counseling.

Herbert Deustch has more than 40 years' commercial law experience, going back as far as the litigation surrounding the Hunt brothers attempt to corner the silver market in 1980, his son said. The firm’s release said that his experience has included transnational law and arbitration, going on to say he is a past chairman of the Subcommittee on Class Actions of the Securities Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association.

Cangiano has extensive experience in corporate and commercial litigation and appellate work, the release said, with a focus on internal, contract and post-merger dispute and professional liability.

The firm is based in New York City and also has offices in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles, California; Newark, New Jersey; and Stamford, Connecticut.

In June, Anderson Kill combined operations with Rosen Livingston & Cholst LLP, a New York law firm that had 10 attorneys and a boutique real estate practice representing the boards and management companies of cooperatives, condominiums and homeowners associations.
