Anderson Kill & Olick, a full-service corporate law firm best known for its work in insurance recovery, today announced that it has opened a new office in Stamford, CT, extending its national presence in the northeast corridor and its ability to represent policyholders on the insurance industry's home turf.
The new office, located at 1055 Washington Boulevard, is headed by Charles T. Lee, who concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and insurance recovery exclusively on behalf of corporate policyholders.
Long based in Connecticut prior to his joining Anderson Kill in September 2010, Mr. Lee has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in insurance coverage for clients including General Electric and Getty Petroleum. He has litigated matters involving environmental, D&O, credit risk, errors and omissions, builders risk and other types of coverage. Mr. Lee is Chair of the Insurance Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and a former Chair of the Stamford Urban Redevelopment Commission. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York.
Joining Mr. Lee from Anderson Kill's Insurance Recovery Group is Edward J. Stein, who will divide his time between the New York and Stamford offices, and Amanda Winalski. Mr. Stein is presently admitted to practice in New York, Massachusetts and California. Ms. Winalski is admitted in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Anderson Kill will bring strong corporate capabilities to Stamford. Costa N. Kensington, chair of Anderson Kill's Corporate and Commercial Transactions practice, will divide his time between the firm's New York and Stamford offices. Mr. Kensington concentrates his practice in corporate and commercial transactions, corporate governance, corporate finance and securities, including mergers, acquisitions and financial restructuring, and venture investments. He is presently admitted to practice in New York. Moving full-time to Stamford is Mr. Kensington's colleague Helen J. Williamson, who has broad experience in general business law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities and private equity transactions, managed funds, and captive insurance companies. Ms. Williamson is admitted in New York and Connecticut.
Also practicing in Stamford will be Anderson Kill attorneys Dennis A. Zagroba, a Trusts and Estates attorney who is admitted in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey; and Linda Gerstel, who practices in Corporate and Commercial Litigation and is admitted in Connecticut and New York.
"We see tremendous opportunity in Connecticut, particularly on the insurance recovery front, where law firms have largely left the field to the insurance industry," said Mr. Lee. At the same time, we will have a robust corporate capability and will be able to offer clients a full suite of legal services."
"Anderson Kill long has successfully represented policyholders in Connecticut – securing for them significant insurance recoveries and helping them with business problems, so our Connecticut office will be building from a strong foundation," said Robert M. Horkovich, the firm's managing partner. "Charlie in particular is a star in insurance recovery, and also is a versatile litigator with strong roots in the Connecticut legal community. We are looking forward to helping clients in New England across a broad range of legal matters."
