DATE: Thursday, August 18, 2016

TIME: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

VENUE: Donegal Insurance Group, 1195 River Road, P.O. Box 302, Marietta, PA 17547

ORGANIZER: Central Pennsylvania Association of Corporate Counsel

This session will examine the in-house counsel's role in helping the corporation identify insurable business risks, evaluating and placing appropriate insurance coverage, and responding to claims.  The panel will discuss corporate vulnerabilities corporate counsel typically identify when negotiating contract terms and deals, hiring third-party suppliers and vendors, overseeing service agreements, or responding to investigations or lawsuits. The panel will also explain how in-house counsel can guide the company in ensuring that those risks are managed and mitigated with appropriate business insurance coverage.

In-house counsel are more involved than ever in their corporation's business operations, from responding to corporate crises, to participating in major HR decisions, to strategic planning.  Proactively managing enterprise risks has also become a key function of many in-house attorneys, including the development and/or oversight of business insurance programs.

In-house counsel play a critical role in helping the corporation identify insurable business vulnerabilities, ensure adequate insurance coverage, and evaluate and respond to claims.  Attorneys have the unique ability to scrutinize insurance contracts and claims from a legal perspective that can enhance the traditional risk management function in corporations.

Listen as our panel discusses the in-house counsel's role in implementing and overseeing the corporation's business insurance programs.  The panel will examine the types of insurance coverage corporations should consider, how to determine if coverage is adequate, and best practices for evaluating and responding to claims.
