Collecting on Claims: Getting the Most Out of Your Insurance Claims, Including Business Interruption

Owning a hotel means managing a range of ever-present risks, from slips and falls to data breaches to property damage from natural disasters and the subsequent loss of business income.  This session will outline strategies for getting claims paid and maximizing recovery when liabilities arise or disaster strikes.  Strategies will include when and how to provide notice and proof of loss, how to keep claims moving, how to address coverage defenses, negotiating settlements, and, when necessary, coverage litigation.  On the property insurance front, we will pay particular attention to obtaining coverage for a variety of business interruption losses.
