TIME: 11:55 AM - 12:55 PM

VENUE: New Jersey Law Center, 1 Constitution Sq. New Brunswick, NJ 08901

Insurance fraud is any act committed to defraud an insurance process. This occurs when a claimant attempts to obtain some benefit or advantage they are not entitled to, or when an insurer knowingly denies some benefit that is due. Insurance fraud extends and impacts people in all walks of life, i.e., automobile, health care, insurance, Medicaid, disability benefits and workers compensation claims. The ramifications in the legal world are tremendous.

At this brand new NJICLE seminar, the Acting Insurance Fraud Prosecutor will offer opening comments on the current climate of insurance fraud in New Jersey. Our panel of insurance experts will then continue the presentation by discussing fraud situations in the application process and fraud in the claims process. The following scheduled presentations will explore ways to detect insurance fraud and tips for successfully handling litigation of an insurance fraud matter.

The program will culminate with a lively conversation focused on ethical issues that arise in insurance law cases. Topics such as attorney client privilege and waiver; protecting confidentiality; and recognizing and dealing with fraudulent or potentially fraudulent claims will be discussed.
