David P. Bender, Jr. is a shareholder in Anderson Kill's Ventura, CA office and is a member of the firm's executive committee. Mr. Bender, a long-time advocate of policyholder's rights, has helped lead Anderson Kill's insurance recovery practice, representing public and private corporations, financial institutions, private and public educational institutions, and Boards of Directors in coverage disputes with insurance companies. Mr. Bender also is co-chair of Anderson Kill's Hospitality Industry Practice Group.
Mr. Bender has represented policyholders in international arbitration forums as well as European organizations in US-based insurance coverage disputes.

Mr. Bender has represented numerous private and public entities in coverage disputes against insurance carriers and joint powers agencies. He recently won a binding arbitration hearing against the London and Bermuda reinsurance markets on a significant coverage dispute involving the 2003 California wildfires. He has collected millions of dollars from carriers on behalf of policyholders including $25 million in policy limits on behalf of a major retailer. He also represents two major California municipalities in separate challenges regarding policy benefits, one of which arises under comprehensive litigation involving a city's affordable housing program. Before forming Wood & Bender, with David Wood, Mr. Bender was a partner in the Los Angeles office of Epstein, Becker & Green.
